Remembering Lady Helen Newlove

The Right Honourable - Baroness Newlove

It is with deep sadness that we reflect on the passing of Lady Helen Newlove — a true champion for victims’ families and a tireless advocate for justice. Her voice, compassion, and strength became a beacon of hope for so many who had been affected by violent crime and loss.

Lady Newlove was more than a public figure. She was a mother who turned unimaginable tragedy into meaningful change. After losing her husband Garry to a senseless act of violence, she chose to stand tall and fight for others who found themselves facing similar heartbreak. Her work as Victims’ Commissioner touched countless lives and brought attention to the real needs of families left behind.

At Families Fighting for Justice, we feel this loss profoundly. Our founder, Jean Taylor, met with Helen on a number of occasions. Both women had walked a path no one should ever have to walk, and both turned their grief into strength — using their voices to stand up for the rights of victims’ families across the country.

Lady Helen’s courage, dignity, and unwavering commitment to justice will never be forgotten. Her legacy lives on in the changes she helped make, the awareness she raised, and the comfort she brought to so many families.

We send our heartfelt condolences to all of Helen’s loving family during this difficult time. May she rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire and uplift others.

Rest in peace, Lady Helen Newlove. A true voice for justice. You will be sadly missed and never forgotten.
