Families Fighting for Justice would like to say a huge thank you to all of those who have purchased tickets for the amazing event at The Crowne Plaza Hotel ‘Black Tie Dinner’. OLLY is the chosen charity for the Police Federations 2019 charity for their annual ‘Black Tie event’. Our charity is extremely humbled and grateful to be recognised and chosen in this way. It is certainly without doubt ‘From Little Acorns………………………Big Oak Trees Grow’. OLLY has grown rapidly in numbers with over 300 children as members.
Some of you have become confused to say the least regarding OLLY. I would like to remind everyone that OLLY was created by a young boy at the time, he was 12, from his own sad loss he recognised the need to have a children’s group for the children who are within a family of homicide so they can share their feelings, while making new friends who have also lost a loved one to homicide. That was 9 years ago.
Over the years, we came to realise and thought it would be of great benefit to introduce some children from communities where there is gang culture, high crime rate and deprivation by doing so those young children can see firsthand and see for themselves the devastation it causes when you take someone’s life or get involved in criminal activities. It is without doubt that the children need to understand the aftermath. I am sure anyone reading this will agree that all children are our future and that there has been far too many lives taken, there is without doubt an early intervention programme that our charity delivers, certainly works, benefits our younger generation.
OLLY believes that every child should be allowed to be happy and smile. With our activities, days out, breaks away and holidays this is a unique children’s group that offers so much without discrimination or prejudice.
If you need to purchase any tickets for the Black Tie Event I would just like to remind that they are selling fast and so are the tables of 10. The Black Tie event is 7th November, Thursday starting at 7pm. For full details please call 0151 709 2994.
