When a family experiences the devastating loss of a loved one to violence, the emotional impact can be overwhelming. In these moments, being heard — truly heard — can be one of the most healing experiences.
That’s where peer support comes in. It’s not about offering solutions or fixing grief. It’s about sitting alongside someone who understands. Someone who listens without judgement because they’ve been there too.
At Families Fighting for Justice, we know how powerful that kind of connection can be. Our peer support is built on compassion, lived experience, and the simple but vital art of listening. Whether through one-to-one conversations or informal group sessions, families find comfort in knowing they are not alone.
Listening doesn’t always mean talking. Sometimes, just being present, allowing someone the space to share — or even just to sit in silence — can make all the difference.
At FFFJ we are hosting dedicated Peer Support Wednesdays, offering a regular safe space for those in need. These sessions are free, confidential, and led by those who truly understand the journey.
Because when it feels like no one else could possibly understand — someone here does.
