Remembering the 97: 37 Years On

Today, we remember the 97 beautiful lives lost at Hillsborough.

Thirty-seven years have passed, but not a single name has been forgotten. Not a single family has been left behind.

On 15th April each year, the city of Liverpool — and people across the world pause to reflect. At Anfield and beyond, scarves are raised, songs are sung, and 97 flames continue to burn in memory.

This is not just a moment of remembrance.
It is a reminder of why the fight mattered and why it must never stop.

We remember the 97:
Sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, friends.
We remember their lives, their stories, and the futures that were taken too soon.

For decades, families fought for the truth.
They stood against injustice, against false narratives, and against a system that failed them.

And they did not give up.

Because of them, the truth was finally heard.
Because of them, justice was pursued.
Because of them, change was made.

But remembrance is not only about the past.
It is about what we carry forward.

It is about standing together.
It is about ensuring accountability.
It is about never allowing such injustice to happen again.

Thirty-seven years on, our promise remains:

We remember.
We stand together.
We keep the fight alive.

Forever in our hearts.

You’ll Never Walk Alone.
